The Storm Lake Loop in the Anaconda Mountains is a local favorite for a few reasons. It’s a short trail to the lake that is pretty easy, there’s great fishing opportunities around the sizeable lake, and it has tremendous views of the mountains! It should be noted that you can technically drive to the lake, but you need a high clearance vehicle and some very high self confidence in your driving skills to maneuver the road! This trail starts from where your standard clearance vehicle can make it. Enter the coordinates into your phone/GPS and there is a small parking area just before a bridge. You’ll follow an old road for about a mile before reaching the lake. Then you can choose to take either direction around the lake! It’s a beautiful loop, with fantastic views all around.
