Pablo Natl Wildlife Refuge

Pablo NWR is in the center of a glacial terminal moraine with a high density of small wetlands and upland grasses. The refuge has become an important area for the reintroduction of trumpeter swans to the Mission Valley. The rolling terrain and interspersed small wetlands of the Mission Valley were created by pre-historic glacial activity. These wetlands are called kettles and were formed from melting glacial ice and are of enormous value to many wildlife species.

To film in the Pablo NWR, commercial filmmakers and photographers will need to apply for a permit with the refuge’s administrative office using the Commercial Activities Special Use Permit Application.

Visit the refuge's website for detailed information about the refuge. Visit FWS permits website to learn more about their permitting process. Also visit the Montana Film Office permits page to view maps and permitting info and the permit application.
