Hailstone NWR is a 920-acre refuge in central Montana that is part of the Charles M. Russell Complex. Greasewood grows in the saline soils whereas native grasses flourish on the less saline soils. The refuge serves as a resting stop and breeding ground for migratory waterfowl.
To film in Hailstone NWR, commercial filmmakers and photographers will need to apply for a permit with the refuge’s administrative office using the Commercial Activities Special Use Permit Application.
