Black Coulee Natl Wildlife Refuge

Black Coulee NWR is located in Blaine County, about 10 miles south of the town of Turner. The land is rolling mixed-grass prairie with major drainages running in a northeasterly direction, and a 173 acre reservoir. Black Coulee Reservoir provides water for migratory birds as well as nesting and brood-rearing habitat.

To film in Black Coulee NWR, commercial filmmakers and photographers will need to apply for a permit with the refuge’s administrative office using the Commercial Activities Special Use Permit Application.

Visit the refuge's website for detailed information about the refuge. Visit FWS permits website to learn more about their permitting process. Also visit the Montana Film Office permits page to view maps and permitting info and the permit application.
